We are honored to announce Dr. Kirklin as the Honorary Chair of A Rare Taste of Bourbon & Art - Birmingham.

Dr. James K. Kirklin is a distinguished cardiac surgeon and the President and Chairman of the Board of Kirklin Solutions, Inc., recognized globally for his pioneering contributions to heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. Prior to founding Kirklin Solutions, he spent 35 years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he held several prominent leadership roles, including Director of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of the James and John Kirklin Institute for Research in Surgical Outcomes (KIRSO).

Throughout his career, Dr. Kirklin has been dedicated to advancing transplant outcomes—work that aligns closely with Enduring Hearts’ mission to improve the longevity and quality of life for children living with heart transplants. He has held numerous academic chairs, earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and holds a master’s in mathematics from The Ohio State University.
